The Basics

Diagram Set 21-1

Kaslideoscope involves a T-spin mini to a T-spin triple. Here is the way to use it correctly:

Tuck a T piece into the cavity. The first line clear is a T-spin mini.

You get a T-spin triple ready.The T-spin triple concludes.

Common Mid-Game Chances

Kaslideoscopes may seem foreboding to create mid-game, but nothing is ever difficult if you break it down into smaller components.

1. Common Situations

Here are ways to construct it and their mid-game situations:

When you are close to the top, it is best to give it up if you do not have enough T pieces, as it leaves you vulnerable to spikes.

    2. Uneven Stack Situations

You can also use Kaslideoscopes mid-game to fix uneven stacks (the stacks on both sides have a height differential):

A subtler mid-game situation exists below:

    Continuations and Follow-Ups

Kaslideoscopes end with a T-spin triple, which is dirtier compared to standard T-spin doubles. They leave a terrible overhang that is challenging to clean up. However, there are a few ways to follow them up cleanly.

    1. STSD Follow-Up

An STSD follow-up is shown below. However, it is not always guaranteed to work (but I can reliably get it off because of my experience):

      Diagram Set 21-9
      12
A regular Kaslideoscope. Its 2 T-spins conclude, leaving an unusual shape.
      34
Step 3’s unusual shape is followed up with S and L placements to make a partial STSD.

If you stack properly, the 2 T-spin doubles from the STSD follow-up leave a clean aftermath and provide a decent burst of garbage to protect yourself.

      2. C-Spin Follow-Up

When there is an extra hole at the correct column for the setup, you can get a C-spin follow-up after the Kaslideoscope’s first T-spin mini:

      Diagram Set 21-10
      12
Step 1 shows a Kaslideoscope with an extra hole in row 1 from the bottom.
      3
      This transitions into a C-spin.

This typically happens by chance. However, here is a mid-game pattern you can spot to create it:

      Diagram Set 21-11
      12
Spot this pink mid-game pattern.  Construct the lavender parts for a Kaslideoscope to C-spin.

      3. Pierce Follow-Up

Another practical follow-up is using Pierce, a prophecy method, to make a single line clear through an I-spin. This leads to a shape that can quickly be followed up with a T-spin double:

      Diagram Set 21-12
      12
      34
This leftover shape is skimmed with an I-spin.It is topped with an S piece to make a T-spin double.

      Advanced

In more advanced ways, you can splice Kaslideoscopes.

      1. Inserting T-Spin Doubles Inside Kaslideoscopes

You can insert a T-spin double into a Kaslideoscope. This method is called Oumuamua.

        Diagram Set 21-13
        12
Spot a mid-game STMB Cave chance like this. Note the pink pattern.Simply put J like this and create an overhang.
        34
        Make the T-spin double.You get a Kaslideoscope.

However, doing this is risky. The greatest risk comes from the T-spin mini, which provides little garbage as protection.

Hence, the initial T-spin double must be timed properly to protect yourself from spikes. Join the T-spin double with the T-spin mini quickly to minimize this vulnerable period where you could be spiked.

        In a Nutshell

Kaslideoscopes are a mixed bag: very few high-level players use them. However, with proper management and enough experience, it has niche roles where it shines, albeit rarely.

        Pros and Cons
ProsGood for resolving some stack imbalance situations.

        Decent damage.
ConsThe first T-spin mini is inefficient because of its low power, soft drop, and line clear penalty.

The T-spin triple it creates is difficult to follow up, sometimes requiring another soft drop, reducing damage-per-time efficiency.
