No great work is built in isolation. These Tetris books are the result of years of study, experimentation, reflection, and teaching, starting from my Galactoid Tetris WordPress research blog — but they are also shaped by a community of players, mentors, and pioneers who pushed the game, and me, to greater heights.
I am indebted to the top players and researchers whose gameplay served as inspiration and proof of concept for many of the methods detailed in this series: Doremy, Wumbotize, Fractal161, Blue Scuti, Harry Hong, Joseph Saelee, Amemiya, Kazu, Furea (Flare), Aruni, Firestorm, Yakine, Knewjade, Jimothy_Jimothy, Kitaru, Kirby703, and many others. Their skill and ingenuity have expanded the horizon of what is possible in Tetris, and observing their play helped refine the strategies presented here.
I would also like to extend my sincere thanks to Dr. Tyler Solon Williams, who provided valuable developmental and editorial guidance during the early stages of this project. His encouragement helped catalyze the vision for this series. While all of the research, writing, and editing of the material was my own, his advice was instrumental in helping me shape the work more clearly and purposefully. He is the co-editor of Hanna and Barbera: Conversations (available on Amazon.com).
He provided the following supporting role:
- Advised mainly book 2’s direction, such as formatting, chapter layouts, book organization, book cover design brainstorming, brief skims to provide developmental feedback. Some of these feedbacks were applicable to books 1 and 3.
- Did part of the query letters and book proposals to seek about 13 to 14 agents.
- Other miscellaneous suggestions like marketing, YouTube Tetris tutorial ideas, and book cover ideas.
- Being the one to approach and inspire me to write this Tetris guidebook series.
