Freestyle 4-Wides

Mid-game 4-wides can be spotted easily if one identifies a few mid-game situations. However, this is greatly expanded if one applies advanced methods such as non-3-residue 4-wides, mid-game center 4-wides, and T-spin or Tetris-protected 4-wides. Here is a list of tips:

  1. Expand your options by spotting the most common 4-wide residue patterns mid-game.
  2. Expand your options by using 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, or higher residue patterns.
  3. Expand your options using off-centered 4-wides.
  4. Use mid-game center 4-wide mid-game.
  5. Protect your 4-wides’ initial low burst using T-spins, Tetrises, or just doubles and triples.
  6. Advanced T-spins of any form (even advanced spliced setups) can be incorporated into 4-wides.
  7. Time your attacks to block or cancel garbage before you get topped out.
  8. 4-wides are easier in games with garbage blocking because of the additional protection.

I do not have many 4-wide demonstration clips since I don’t use them often. Even some of my clips are from 2020, when I was much slower.
